Welcome to So Hilarious - Comedy & Ethical & Eco Friendly Clothing

So Hilarious is a female founded, female run, ethical, organic and no-nonsense clothing brand based in the North of England. We also run comedy nights and comedy workshops.

Hello there,

I'm Jane Postlethwaite. I'm a Cumbrian Stand Up Comedian and Writer who's trying to make a difference when it comes to clothing consciousness. I'm also passionate about giving under-represented folk a voice in comedy by teaching and running comedy nights to showcase female, non-binary and LGBTQI+ acts.

I set up this slow fashion brand because I'm someone who wants to know exactly where their clothes come from, know that no one is suffering making them and wants to protect the environment. After doing loads of research, I ended up creating the brand I would want to shop from and ticks all the important boxes.

Our designs are aimed to give visibility to Feminists, support the LGBTQ+ community and be outright sweary! Our apparel is for anyone and everyone regardless of how you identify or how old you are.

My main goal is to support you to be proud of who you are, show off your talents & most of all - take up more space in the World whether it's with a t'shirt or a comedy career!

Jane :)

Our Clothing Values

You might be buying quickly and cheap, but did you know the impact of fast fashion?

Fast fashion has an enormous environmental footprint during its production and disposal. It's one of the most harmful industries in the World. Knowing this we have sourced ethically made, organic, fair-trade and vegan clothing.

It's far more sustainable to buy quality clothing you're going to love and cherish forever. That's why we only print a fresh item when you order and yes it takes a little longer to get to you, but it is worth it.

Why does using organic cotton matter?

Let's start by telling you that non-organic cotton is a menace to the people who make it, it pollutes the environment and is harmful to wildlife. Harsh nasty chemicals are used and workers in cramped conditions breathe them in leading to poisoning and even death. The chemical impact from these factories also effects animals and local wildlife such as fish and birds also being poisoned and dying.

This is far from hilarious and we need to do better. How?

We use organic cotton so we can ensure our clothing is ethically made and responsible to protect workers, animals and planet Earth. Our products are made free of harsh chemicals, no fertilisers or pesticides. They also use less water during production.

Who made my clothing and are they OK?

Yes, we've made sure our products are sweat-shop free! Our clothing is ethically made in GOTS-certified and Fair Wear Foundation approved facilities. The people who make them are in safe and dignified working conditions. They receive a fair living wage and a legally binding contract. No child labour, ever.

Are the animals safe?

Yes, we're 100% cruelty-free and plant-based company so no animals have been harmed in the making of your new t-shirt, which has been PETA approved. We are against animal testing and aim to use vegan ink in our print designs.

Did you know we like to give back?

Every item sold we make a donation to a charity we feel align with our values. We pick from various charities that support women, the LGBTQ+ communities and young people. We currently support Barrow Women's Community Matters a charity based in the North West who help women, young people and their families.

Does this all sound good to you?

We hope you love our designs and wear them with pride knowing the story behind them. Tag us in your photos @SoHilariousCom on Instagram so we can see!
